Camgian CEO Dr. Gary Butler Appointed to Department of War's Science, Technology and Innovation Board

STARKVILLE, Miss. – February 6, 2026 — Camgian Corporation, a leader in advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning defense technology, today announced that its Founder, Chairman, and CEO, Dr. Gary Butler, has been appointed to the Department of War’s newly-formed Science, Technology, and Innovation Board (STIB).
Dr. Butler will collaborate with leading scientists and industry experts on the STIB to examine cutting-edge science, technology, and policy issues critical to national security, directly supporting senior leaders in advancing the Department’s mission and priorities.
The STIB, established by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Undersecretary of War for Research and Engineering Emil Michael, merges the former Defense Innovation Board (DIB) and Defense Science Board (DSB) into a unified advisory body charged with solving complex national security problems for the Secretary of War, the Deputy Secretary of War, the Undersecretaries of War, the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other senior Department officials. Operating through two permanent subcommittees, the STIB brings together top military and private-sector expertise to strengthen deterrence, maintain U.S. operational dominance, and deliver clear, actionable recommendations without added bureaucracy.
“I am deeply honored to serve on the Science, Technology and Innovation Board and to work alongside some of the nation’s brightest minds in science and technology,” said Dr. Butler. “At Camgian, we live at the intersection of AI innovation and warfighter needs. Our work in kill chain automation, sensor fusion, and machine-speed decision-making has given us a unique perspective on both the extraordinary potential of AI in defense and the urgent challenges we must solve to maintain our technological edge. I look forward to bringing that perspective to the STIB and contributing to solutions that ensure our nation’s warfighters have the tools and capabilities they need to prevail in an increasingly complex threat environment.”
“We recognize that sustaining a technological edge is critical to national security,” said Kevin Tingley, Vice President of Products and Services of Camgian. “We are incredibly proud of Dr. Butler; he will bring his full energy, commitment, and passion to the important work of the STIB. His appointment reflects not only his individual contributions to the field of AI and defense technology but also the critical role that innovative small businesses play in delivering next-generation capabilities to our warfighters.”
