Camgian Pushes AI to the Edge with MindOps™

STARKVILLE, MS – 15 May 2019 – Camgian, an award-winning developer of advanced sensor systems and technologies, announces that it will begin beta testing of its new artificial intelligence (AI) enabled optics platform called MindOps™. MindOps is a software platform that integrates custom machine vision algorithms and advanced object detection and recognition capabilities with camera systems. A key feature of the design is a novel architecture that supports flexible, distributed image processing operations at both the device and cloud levels. This approach includes the ability to develop, train and deploy custom machine vision algorithms and models for specific applications and target hardware platforms. The MindOps “edge-AI” approach significantly improves the scalability of field-deployed imaging systems while reducing communications bandwidth requirements, power consumption, and operator workload.

MindOps is currently undergoing development, testing and evaluation as part of Camgian’s Prowl® long-endurance ground surveillance platform, which includes a new compact, high resolution visual/infrared camera module for target imaging. Camgian’s Vice President of Defense Programs, D

oug “Goz” Gosney, said “MindOps is a huge increase in the capability that we provide to our most important customers…our nation’s warfighters. Prowl® provides real-time radar target tracking…MindOps shows you what it is!” While MindOps was designed and developed to support military special operations, opportunities exist to employ this technology across the Department of Defense as well as the commercial sector.

“MindOps is a great team effort among our AI, embedded, and application software teams to deliver AI to the battlefield,” says Camgian Chairman and CEO, Dr. Gary D. Butler. “Additionally, it is an example of how AI is enabling a new frontier of capabilities that will enhance the speed and quality of decision making of our warfighters to address the rapid pace of future threats.”

Camgian plans to demonstrate the initial MindOps capabilities at an upcoming Army Technical Support and Operational Analysis (TSOA) event. The TSOA project supports the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Rapid Reaction Technology Office (RRTO) to improve warfighter maneuver, survivability, and lethality.
