Camgian & Fincantieri Partner to Deliver Maritime IoT Solutions

STARKVILLE, MS – 28 September 2017 – Camgian Microsystems Corporation today announced a teaming agreement with Fincantieri Marine Systems North America (FMSNA), a part of Fincantieri SpA, one of the world’s largest shipbuilders, to pursue the delivery of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for improving ship-borne maintenance and servicing operations. The partnership will combine FMSNA’s global footprint in maintenance with Camgian’s advanced technologies and capabilities in IoT and multi-sensor processing. Through the agreement, Camgian and FMSNA will focus on deploying a new generation of sensor-driven analytical tools, combined with FMSNA’s data collection technology, that will provide users actionable insights for improving operational downtime and equipment utilization across the maritime industry.

“Given shipping’s vital role in global transportation, trade and security, we are excited to be working with Fincantieri on such an important problem,” says Gary D. Butler, Camgian Chairman and CEO. “It is our goal to evolve the maritime industry towards more intelligent and automated maintenance processes that drive significant value to operators in that sector.”

New solutions and services generated through the partnership will be underpinned by Camgian’s Egburt, an end-to-end IoT software platform specifically designed to intelligently manage complex sensing and processing operations at scale. Specifically, this includes the capability to efficiently mine large volumes of disparate sensor data for critical operational insights. Built on an edge computing architecture, Egburt supports local multi-sensor processing in coordination with cloud-hosted data storage, analytics and visualization.

“Improving operational performance through data-driven technologies represents a significant opportunity for our customers in the maritime market”, asserts Rick Dinsmore, Vice President of FMSNA. “Combining FMSNA’s engineering and maintenance experience with Camgian’s capabilities in IoT, software development and sensor processing positions us to realize a new level of operational efficiencies in our industry.”
