Camgian Appoints Two New Directors


Camgian Microsystems Corporation today announced the appointments of former US Ambassador John Palmer and John Reece as new directors of the firm effective April 2013. The new appointments expand Camgian‘s board to five directors, which include Chairman Gary D. Butler, former US Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott and Gene Josephs.

Palmer, the former US Ambassador to Portugal, currently serves as Chairman of Gulf South Capital in Jackson, MS. In 1989, he founded SkyTel, a leader in domestic and international wireless communication services, which was sold to MCI WorldCom in 1999. As Chairman of SkyTel, Palmer led the successful growth of the company, which included the implementation of the first nationwide two-way wireless messaging network and its Latin American paging services.

Additionally, Ambassador Palmer has served as President of the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association and on the President’s Export Council as a Private Sector Advisor to the Secretary of Commerce and as a Private Sector Trade Advisor to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. He has also been a member of the boards of three New York Stock Exchange companies, AmSouth Bancorporation, EastGroup and Entergy Corporation.

John Reece serves as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Camgian. John’s career in the high-tech industry began with IBM in 1965, where for 25 years he held management positions in finance and operations. In the years since his journey with “Big Blue” he has remained on the forefront of the technology evolution.

Prior to joining Camgian, John served as President and CEO of ClearOrbit (now Take Solutions), a global technology provider of enterprise solutions, where he was instrumental in engineering a complete turnaround, resulting in its acquisition by Take Solutions. John skills were also instrumental in the success of two emerging technology firms, for whom he held stints as Chief Financial Officer resulting in successful acquisitions (Tantau Software and Reliant Data Systems). In addition, John served as Vice President and Corporate Controller of Tandem Computers.
