STARKVILLE, MS – 9 September 2019 –Camgian Microsystems Corporation today announces the addition of Richard Hurst as director of artificial intelligence (AI). In this new role, Hurst will lead Camgian’s AI and machine learning team and manage AI research and product development efforts related to Camgian’s government and commercial business lines. Hurst will be located in Camgian’s new Center for AI & Machine Learning in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Hurst comes to Camgian from the US Navy where he served as an AI research scientist, automatic target recognition maturation lead and technical product manager leading the development and delivery of autonomous underwater vehicle systems. During his career with the Navy, he led product development through delivery of autonomous solutions for underwater vehicles. This included AI designed to augment the cognitive capacities of human agents, predictive and adaptive mission planning, autonomous payload delivery, in-situ re-planning, computer vision, and autonomous fire control solutions. Additionally, Hurst serves as an adjunct professor of computer science at Florida State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in software engineering.
