Camgian Microsystems Posts Record Breaking Fiscal Year for 2009

STARKVILLE, M.S. – January 28th, 2010 – Camgian Microsystems Corporation, provider of advanced electronic systems and semiconductor technologies, on Thursday reported closing a record fiscal year for 2009. For the twelve months ended December 31, 2009, the company recorded fiscal year revenue that rose 213% from the year-ago period, boosted by strong commercial and defense engineering services contracts.

“Our strategy for 2009 was to continue growing our base of innovative microelectronics research initiatives while aggressively expanding our engineering capabilities and establishing key alliances that would enable future growth in our targeted government and commercial market segments,” said Gary Butler, Camgian President and Chief Executive Officer. “To this end, our employees did a remarkable job by successfully executing an ambitious plan. 2009 Highlights Include:

• Acquisition – In February, Camgian acquired Cypress Semiconductor Corporation’s Engineering Design Center in Starkville, Mississippi. The acquisition included the addition of 15 new employees and bolstered Camgian’s integrated circuit research, design and development capabilities. Additionally, the acquisition laid the groundwork for the future expansion of Camgian’s corporate headquarters into an 11,000 square foot advanced microelectronics engineering facility now under construction in the Thad Cochran Research Park with a projected opening in late 2010.
• Technology Transfer – Completed an agreement to transfer Camgian’s ultra low power digital circuit technology to Wave Semiconductor, a new commercial venture located in San Jose, CA and recently funded by Tallwood Venture Capital and Southern Cross Venture Partners. Wave will transition Camgian’s asynchronous CMOS compatible digital technology, NULL Convention Logic™ (NCL), into the mainstream semiconductor industry and Camgian will continue leveraging NCL in both its government and commercial electronic systems and product development initiatives.
• Advanced Technology Development – Awarded three new Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Phase I contracts, which leverage Camgian’s microelectronics and power management expertise for developing next generation mixed signal systems-on-a-chip for military electronic systems.
• Key Partnerships – Continued to build relationships and technology development programs with strategic industry partners including DRS Technologies, Orbcomm, and BAE North America.
• Awards – Named as a Mississippi Company to Watch by the Edwin Lowe Foundation; Received the Governor’s Cup Award from Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour for Camgian’s contribution to Mississippi’s economic development; and named as one of the top 100 private companies in Mississippi by the Mississippi Business Journal.
